New Design Template

While I'm making some changes, I noticed that Blogger is encouraging me to try their new design templates. So I thought I'd try a few more changes in the background, etc. Let me know if you like it!

Welcome to Aaronap Cellars!

In 2006, I decided to start making wine. I'm an organic chemist by training, and one night in the midst of draining a bottle of David Coffaro Zinfandel, I had an epiphany that wine is simply chemistry in a bottle! Several weeks later, I purchased a wine kit, and the addiction began. What other hobby lets me be a chemist (titrations, pH measurements, organic synthesis and reaction design, bench top analyses, etc) and then drink the results?!? Over 6 years later, I have two main interests in wine making--making the best possible wine from the best possible grapes and non-grape fruits, and sharing the results with my friends.

This blog is a personal history of my wine making trials with personal anecdotes, plans, frustrations, and tasting notes on the results. The journey started in Ann Arbor, Michigan and continues at my new home in Westford, Massachusetts, where I have recently started a microscale boutique winery Aaronap Cellars. Construction is in progress and the first vintage will be made soon!
